Continuing with the 'The Beatitudes', we move on to Matthew 5:7, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy." We take this time to reevaluate the word 'mercy' from a secular point of view, Greek, and Hebrew aspect. In study this week, I reminded myself that sometimes if you want to dive into a word and its usage, you may want to explore what was the original writer's intention. Then you want to ask yourself; how may I be able to benefit from its variety of meanings. Portions of our Bible are written in aramaic, and Hebrew translated into Greek and Latin. As we continue into the Beatitudes, the approach needs to be, how can I be more efficient as a believer when I read His Word? Are there some interpretations I need to re-learn? How about its meaning when it comes to different passages. In its many appearances, should I view the word 'love' the same? In this case today how about the word mercy?
